FAQ: Refined Legal Terms

This FAQ provides answers to questions you may have about coming changes to the Refined legal terms for our cloud and data center products. Please contact us at notices@refined.com if you have questions not answered here.

When will the new terms come into effect for my company?

The new terms go into effect on September 1, 2023.

Why have the Refined terms changed?

We have made new terms and separated the terms between cloud and data center to make it easier for our customers to read and understand. The new terms also better reflect our current product offerings and how we process personal data.

Which customers will this affect?

The new Refined Cloud Terms will apply to all Refined cloud customers, and the new On-Prem terms will apply to all Refined data center customers.

Is there any action required from me to continue using Refined?

You are not required to take any action and you will be able to continue using Refined's products as usual.

How does GDPR apply to my use of Refined?

To provide services, Refined needs to process some personal data. This means that General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies. However, Refined only processes the bare minimum of personal data necessary to provide services.

See below information about what personal data is processed by Refined in each app.

What personal data is processed by Refined in the Cloud products?

In order to provide the services, Refined currently processes Internet protocol (IP) addresses and stores the data for two weeks. The processing and storing of personal data is done to be able to provide a reliable service and block possible malicious or unintended use of the service. Here you can find more information about which personal data we process.

Refined as well processes personal data under the DPA for the purpose of providing support to the Customer. The types of personal data that are processed will be dependent on what the Customer shares with the Processor during support. The Processor will only process such personal data that the Customer may show during the support or that the processor is otherwise given access to.

If the Processor asks the Customer to provide a HAR file it may include for example the first name and last name of the user who generated the file. The Customer should review the content of the file and remove any personal or sensitive information before sending the file to the Processor.
