General
What happens if I change my Atlassian hosting?

You’ll need to switch to the corresponding Refined app (e.g. from Cloud to Data Center). Reach out to support for help transitioning.

What steps does Refined take to ensure my data is secure?

Refined is SOCII compliant, and all of our Cloud apps are Cloud Fortified. See our security page for more details, and review the Privacy & Security tabs on our Atlassian Marketplace listings to learn about data egress, data residency options, and more.

Where is data from my Refined apps hosted?

Data location depends on Atlassian hosting: Cloud apps are hosted by Atlassian; Data Center apps are self-hosted. Refined doesn’t access or store your content.

Can I get a demo?

Yes, we’d be happy to show you our products on a call. Click here to book a demo.

How much do the Refined apps cost?

Pricing is based on the number of users in your Atlassian organization. Visit the pricing tabs on our Atlassian Marketplace listings for up-to-date pricing.

Can you help me out if I have other questions?

Yes! Visit our help center for documentation, or contact sales.

Refined Sites
What can I do with Refined Sites?

Refined Sites gives you the power to turn Confluence and Jira Service Management into branded, user-friendly sites for teams, users, or customers. Each site features structured navigation, customizable layouts, and permissions-based content visibility—making Atlassian content easier to find, navigate, and use.

Common use cases include intranets, help and support sites, knowledge bases, partner portals, and documentation sites, but you can build anything you’d like.

How do I build a Refined site?

Use the Site Builder to add Confluence spaces and/or JSM help desks, configure site layout with modules, and control user access. You can preview changes before publishing.

Do I have to be a designer to make my Refined sites look good?

No! Use prebuilt templates or customize layouts with clicks (not code). Change theme, layout, and navigation easily in the Site Builder.

What’s the difference between Refined Sites on Cloud and Refined on Data Center?

Whereas Refined Cloud sites act as websites accessible via a URL, hosting only the Confluence or JSM content you choose to add to them, Refined on Data Center is laid directly over the native user interface.

Can I use Refined Sites for both Confluence and JSM on the same site?

Yes, and there are considerable benefits to doing so. Installing both apps allows you to build sites that include both content from Confluence and request types from JSM. That means you can seamlessly weave self-help content from knowledge bases together with support functionality. Users submit tickets right on the site if self-help fails — no context switch to an off-site portal required.

Can I use Refined Sites for Confluence view permissions?

Yes. Refined respects Confluence view permissions. You can also restrict layout modules and navigation to user groups using View Permissions.

Who in my organization will have control over Refined Sites and themes?

Site Admins (Confluence/JSM) manage access to Refined. They can give other users permission to design and edit content.

Can I use Refined Sites to build a public website?

Yes, sites can be public, private, or configured for support (logged-in JSM users). Learn more about access controls here.

How does Refined Sites handle user authentication and access control?

Refined Sites directs users to Atlassian to log in with their Atlassian credentials through either Confluence or Jira. Once they’ve logged in, they’re directed back to the Refined site. Users stay logged in for seven days, unless they log out themselves.

How does Refined Sites compare to native Atlassian site-building capabilities?

Refined sites offer the unique ability to package your choice of Confluence and JSM content into a website, public or private, that runs outside of your Atlassian tooling.

While the Confluence Company Hub is a solid starting point, Refined allows far more structure, personalization, navigation control, and theming, as well as integrated service desk functionality.
